Job summary

Douglas County School District is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support daily lunch program preparation and service at Stone Mountain Elementary. You will help with washing, cutting, portioning, and food safety oversight in a dynamic school kitchen environment.

You will collaborate with Nutrition Services and school staff to ensure timely service, accurate POS handling, and positive interactions with students and parents. Must be flexible, with a 20-hour work week and travel between sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow HACCP and safety procedures.
• Willingness to travel between schools and flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Assist in meal preparation, service, and sale, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Set up and clean serving areas; maintain sanitation.
• Operate Point of Sale and reconcile monies daily.
• Communicate effectively with staff, students and parents.
• Participate in training and complete USDA standards hours.
• Unloading and proper storage of delivered food items.
• Learn and operate POS system and assist in other kitchen tasks.
