Job summary

Orono Public Schools is seeking a Kitchen Assistant Manager for a 5.75-hour day position within the school cafeteria. You will contribute to food preparation, serve meals, and support students, families, and staff with courteous service.

The role requires handling inventories, maintaining confidentiality, and thriving in a fast-paced environment. The kitchen will undergo construction and move to on-site prep for daycare and pre-K students.

Qualifications

• Monitor and maintain inventories for planned menus.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Prior food service experience preferred, but not required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible environment.
• Position involves lifting, twisting, and turning.

Responsibilities

• Conduct majority of kitchen preparation responsibilities.
• Provide high level customer service to students, families, and staff.
• Engage in a variety of duties in a school cafeteria.
• Light prep and serving; dishwashing.
• Cashiering and clean up.
• Kitchen will be under construction and transition to on-site prep for daycare and pre-K students.
