Job summary

Opaa! Food Management, Inc. is seeking a kitchen assistant to prepare breakfast and lunch offerings, assist with serving lines, and participate in occasional catering events.

This role requires flexibility to perform all kitchen positions as needed and to help maintain food safety and quality across serving areas. The job emphasizes accurate temperature control, recipe adherence, and teamwork in a fast-paced school dining environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Ability to write simple correspondence
• Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent

Responsibilities

• Assist with the set-up of serving lines daily and ensure all food is held at the required temperature.
• Assist in the preparation of foods per menu plan and Opaa! recipes; plan ahead for next day’s menus.
• Operate slicers, mixers, grinders, and other equipment with proper certification.
• Keep work areas neat, clean, and organized; maintain FIFO inventory.
• Prepare breads and baked goods as required by the menu plan; present to customers.
• Follow HACCP processes and maintain food safety logs; record temperatures of hot and cold foods.
