Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools is seeking a School Kitchen Assistant to support meal preparation and service in the Nutrition Services Department. You will help with lunch setup, serve meals, and perform cashier duties with accuracy and professionalism.

This role requires a high school diploma and adherence to health codes. You will work under the Kitchen Manager, maintain records, and contribute to a clean, efficient kitchen environment while treating students and staff with respect.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current FWPS employee/guest with Nutrition Services.
• Work scheduled hours consistently.
• Cash handling experience in service industry.
• Basic computer applications knowledge.
• NSLP experience.
• ASFSA, WSFSA membership.

Responsibilities

• Assist Kitchen Manager with lunch set-up and cleanup.
• Serve meals to students and staff; plate per request.
• Operate POS and cashier systems; handle cash and tickets.
• Maintain records of lunches and ala-carte items.
• Verify milk deliveries and monitor leftovers.
• Keep cashier area clean and well stocked.
• Arrange food displays attractively.
• Maintain confidentiality and provide friendly service.
• Attend all contracted meetings.
• Adhere to health and safety protocols.
