Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to prepare and serve nutritious meals, following standardized procedures and schedules. You may lead staff in meal prep, serving and cleanup while ensuring safety, sanitation, and accurate recordkeeping.

The role requires one year of food preparation experience, ability to plan menus, adjust recipes, and maintain required records. Flexibility and teamwork are essential to support the cafeteria operations and nutrition initiatives.

Qualifications

• one year experience in commercial or institutional food preparation
• ability to utilize fundamentals of meal preparation
• skills to plan menus and adjust recipes
• competence to complete and maintain records as requested

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve high quality, nutritious meals following standardized procedures and work schedules
• Direct or assist unit staff in meal preparation and serving as needed
• Keep daily records and reports and submit to Kitchen Manager
• Maintain food inventories and assist with equipment and storeroom
• Ensure safety and sanitation procedures are followed
• Promote nutrition programs and assist school staff in healthy eating
• Perform related duties as assigned
