Job summary

Portage Public Schools is seeking a Building Technician to provide on-site technology support across assigned school buildings. You will diagnose hardware and software issues, assist with network connectivity, and help staff and students effectively use technology.

You will also support system imaging, asset tracking, and training sessions, ensuring reliable IT operations within the district. This full-time position emphasizes collaboration with instructional staff and adherence to the district

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree or equivalent in technical training or field experience.
• Diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to switch between multiple projects quickly and self-prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-line on-site technology support for hardware, software, and network connectivity in assigned buildings.
• Assist teachers and staff with training and use of technology.
• Diagnose and repair computer hardware and peripherals on-site or for repair.
• Troubleshoot software issues, apply patches, and update software as needed.
• Install and configure staff computers, printers, and peripherals.
• Support deployment of system images and district communication systems.
• Assist with asset tracking and annual inventory procedures.
• Maintain attendance and adhere to district policies.
