Job summary

Washington County Public Schools seeks a Custodian at Boonsboro High School to support our 12-month, second-shift operations. This role reports to the Facilities Operations Manager and carries responsibilities for maintaining a clean, safe school environment.

The position is classified as Grade 4 on the ESP Salary Scale ($17.18 - $31.07 per hour). Required are a high school diploma or GED, the ability to perform heavy manual tasks, and experience operating gas-powered cleaning equipment.

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent qualification.
Capable of performing manual tasks (stairs, ladders, lifting, shoveling).
Willingness to participate in in-service training programs.
Regular and predictable attendance as an essential function.

Responsibilities

Perform cleaning operations (scrubbing, mopping, sweeping, waxing, dusting) using hand or mechanical tools.
Provide a presence to deter theft and vandalism and ensure safety.
Monitor heating/air conditioning systems and report issues as needed.
Assist with minor emergency repairs.
Clean and care for the grounds and maintain custodial records.
Maintain inventory of custodial equipment and supplies and reorder as needed.
Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders.
