Job summary

The Montgomery County Board of Education seeks a 12 month Custodian to maintain school facilities and grounds, perform cleaning tasks, and support maintenance activities. The role requires regular attendance and ability to work with a team.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the Maintenance Department, ordering supplies, and securing buildings daily. A background check is required; some custodial experience preferred. Salary will be pro-rated based on contract days remaining.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Some experience with commercial custodial or janitorial work preferred.
• Ability to carry out tasks requiring moderate physical exertion and some heavy lifting, outdoors in varying conditions.
• Background clearance through FBI and ABI processes.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Regular and punctual attendance required.
• Maintain school facilities and grounds.
• Sweep, mop, clean restrooms, strip, wax, and buff floors; other cleaning tasks as assigned.
• Conduct maintenance and repairs including changing light fixtures/bulbs.
• Coordinate with the Maintenance Department on detailed work items.
• Order and maintain supplies.
• Assist with moving furniture and other items within the school facilities.
• Be available to respond to alarm activations as required.
• Lock and secure school buildings daily as assigned.
