Job summary

Harford County Public Schools seeks a Custodian I for Youth’s Benefit Elementary School to perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment. The role is a full-time twelve-month position with weekend or shift considerations and a starting salary of $34,089, with growth to $47,579 based on AFSCME Grade 1 on the FY 2025-2026 schedule.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in a custodial, mechanical trade or related area.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders as required.
• Must be able to operate custodial equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Selects equipment and cleans floors in classrooms, offices, and corridors.
• Uses custodial machines and supplies for cleaning and maintenance.
• Collects trash and disposes of waste.
• Moves and repositions furniture when needed.
• Assists in snow removal and lawn maintenance.
• Responds to emergencies and performs other duties as assigned.
