Job summary

Harford County Public Schools is seeking a Custodian I for Shift 2 at Homestead-Wakefield Elementary School to perform routine cleaning, maintenance and upkeep.

This full-time, twelve-month position offers benefits and a starting salary between $34,089 and $47,579, with opportunities for growth and a strong commitment to a safe, healthy school environment.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and be able to lift up to 50 pounds. A valid driver’s license may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum ninth grade education; testing may assess reading and comprehension.
• One year of custodial or related experience preferred.
• Must be physically able to perform essential duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Sweep and clean floors in classrooms, offices, and common areas.
• Operate custodial equipment such as floor scrubbing machines and vacuums.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables.
• Move furniture and equipment as needed.
• Assist in snow removal and lawn maintenance.
• Respond to emergencies and perform other duties as assigned.
