Job summary

Summit School Services in Urbandale, IA seeks a Bus Assistant to support safe student transportation. You’ll help students board and exit, monitor conduct, and assist the driver while ensuring a clean, organized vehicle.

The role requires 18+ years, ability to relate to children, strong communication, and reliability; training and safety meetings will be provided; company emphasizes safety, ethics and equal opportunity.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old; for New York School Bus Assistants, 19+ per state law.
• Must meet physical and medical requirements.
• Must satisfactorily complete training and safety meetings to remain qualified.
• Ability to relate to and work well with children.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with entering or exiting the bus in a safe manner.
• Seat students safely using belts, car seats or restraints as needed.
• Monitor passengers to ensure safety regulations and conduct rules are followed.
• Assist Driver in keeping the interior of the vehicle clean and presentable.
• Complete required paperwork and report concerns to the appropriate authority.
