Job summary

Durham School Services is seeking a skilled dispatcher to direct and monitor daily driver assignments, coordinate routes, and support field operations. You will schedule drivers and vehicles, communicate routing details, and ensure on-time service while handling emergencies and changes efficiently.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required or equivalent experience.
Previous dispatch experience preferred; familiarity with routing systems.
Knowledge of local geography to plan efficient routes.
Strong communication skills with customers and drivers.
Ability to read maps and interpret routing instructions.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and routing software.
Bi-lingual abilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

Directs and monitors daily assignments; schedules drivers, bus assistants, and assigns vehicles to ensure daily coverage of all routes, field trips, and charter work.
Communicates all relevant details of driving assignments to drivers to ensure proper execution.
Responds to emergency calls and coordinates replacement buses and drivers as needed.
Notifies personnel of changes in route assignments and emergencies; maintains accurate route documentation.
Ensures compliance with dispatch procedures and company policies.
