Job summary

Durham School Services is seeking a Dispatch / Route Coordinator to manage daily driver assignments, route coverage, and vehicle allocations for a multi-site operation. You will communicate routing details, support drivers, and maintain accurate records to ensure punctual service.

The role requires high school diploma or GED, strong communications, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Prior dispatch experience is preferred, with emphasis on safety and compliance across routes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Dispatch experience preferred.
• Knowledge of surrounding geographic area to route effectively.
• Ability to communicate in fast-paced, stressful environments.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and maps.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily assignments; schedule drivers and bus assistants, assign vehicles for routes, field trips, and charters.
• Ensure on-time completion of daily activities and routes.
• Communicate routing details to drivers for proper execution.
• Assist drivers with routing directions and special services as needed.
• Escalate issues to management and coordinate with maintenance when needed.
• Maintain route documentation and compliance with district/state requirements.
• Provide professional customer service and respond to inquiries promptly.
