Job summary

The Speech Language Pathology Assistant position at SASED in Lisle, IL provides speech-language services to students with developmental and/or physical disabilities in classroom settings under supervision. The SLPA helps design communication systems so students can express needs and thoughts in real-world contexts, collaborating with the educational team to support IEP goals across the curriculum.

Qualifications

  • Degree or degree pathway in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Sciences and Disorders (or equivalent).
  • Licensed by IDFPR or equivalent SLP Assistant certification.
  • Completed 1,000 hours of supervised fieldwork.
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license with access to insured vehicle for travel between locations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare to address local school speech-language goals.
  • Coordinate speech-language services with other school personnel.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports for program planning.
  • Develop IEPs based on students' strengths and needs.
  • Provide speech-language therapy to minimize impact of disorders.
  • Engage in professional growth and adhere to standards of behavior.
