Job summary

SASED is seeking a Speech Language Pathology Assistant to provide speech-language services to students with developmental or physical disabilities in classroom settings. The SLPA will help design communication systems and work with the educational team to support IEP goals across the curriculum.

The role involves collaboration with classroom staff, maintaining program records, and implementing evidence-based speech-language interventions.

Qualifications

Associates or Bachelors pathway through Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Sciences and Disorders (or equivalent).
Licensed by IDFPR or equivalent Speech Language Pathology Assistant certification.
Completed 1,000 hours of clinical experience of supervised fieldwork.
Valid Illinois driver's license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle to travel between service locations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Plan and prepare speech-language services addressing local school goals.
Collaborate with school personnel to achieve IEP goals and objectives.
Coordinate therapy services with other student services staff.
Maintain records and prepare reports for the speech-language program.
Develop IEPs based on students' strengths and needs.
Provide speech-language therapy and MTSS-based interventions.
Consult with parents, teachers and other school personnel.
Engage in ongoing professional development related to speech-language pathology.
