Job summary

Henry County Public Schools is seeking a Behavior Technician to provide proactive behavioral and social-emotional support to elementary students under the supervision of the BI and BCBA. The role includes implementing BSPs, data collection, and delivering Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions in general education settings.

Minimum education includes an Associate’s degree or 48 credits/ParaPro, with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree or 48 credit hours or ParaPro passing score.
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with colleagues and children.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive behavioral support, teaching emotional regulation, coping, and social skills.
  • Implement Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) and de-escalation strategies with fidelity.
  • Facilitate Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions aligned with VTSS.
  • Partner with the counselor to identify students for small group social-emotional support.
  • Collect, document, and monitor student behavior data to track progress.
  • Maintain assigned student caseloads and ensure consistent supports.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, BCBA, and BI.
  • Support SST meetings using Function-Based Thinking (FBT).
  • Participate in monthly coaching sessions with BI/BCBA.
  • Follow district/state policies while maintaining confidentiality, safety, and dignity.
