Job summary

Qualifications

  • Interpersonal skills to support customer service and team collaboration.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and state/federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules all appointments for providers in computer system, including special procedures.
  • Verifies patient demographic and insurance information in the computer system.
  • Confirms appointments and answers questions about scheduling.
  • Instructs patients on locations and directions.
  • Enters data into the computer and retrieves information as needed.
  • Answers telephone, directs callers, and takes messages.
  • Adheres to safety policies and supports high quality customer service.
  • Performs other duties as necessary for the organization.

SECTION 1: Job Summary (Summary of the basic functions of the position)

Schedules appointments and performs various clerical duties to assist patients and clinical staff in

providing patient care by performing the following duties:

SECTION 2: Duties and Responsibilities (Responsibilities necessary to accomplish job functions)
  • Schedules all appointments for providers in computer, except patients for patients needing procedural appointments (i.e., Mohs, excisions, cryotherapy, laser)
  • Verifies all pertinent patient demographic information in computer system, including insurance information.
  • Confirms patients’ appointment and answers incoming questions about appointments.
  • Instructs patients in locations and directions.
  • Enters appropriate data into computer and retrieves data.
  • Answers telephone, and directs patients, salespeople, and visitors to the correct telephone extension, takes messages as needed
  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer service.
  • Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organization.
Qualifications
  • Minimum one year of work experience in a medical office, or three to six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations for this position; general understanding of HIPAA guidelines
