Job summary

The City of Grand Rapids seeks a strategic IT leader to drive enterprise information technology and telecommunications systems. This role manages planning, procurement, budget oversight, and staff/contractor coordination to sustain an enterprise IT operation and partner with business units to improve technology utilization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field.
• At least seven (7) years of managerial experience in a field related to information technology.
• ITIL Fundamentals Certification

Responsibilities

• Sets long-term strategic direction for City’s IT infrastructure, overseeing support, delivery, and implementation.
• Coordinates, manages, and oversees contracts and Statements of Work related to delivering professional services.
• Procures technical goods and services; develops RFPs, cost-benefit reviews, evaluates vendor responses, and recommends contract awards.
• Develops and maintains strategic plan for implementing technological changes and advancements.
• Develops and enhances citywide business intelligence capabilities and capacity.
• Oversees IT security and telephony infrastructure, including wireless and IP systems.
