Job summary

WSP is seeking a SCADA and Automation Engineer – Technical Director for Boise, ID, with opportunities across Clarkston WA, Portland OR, San Diego CA, Denver CO, Salt Lake City UT and Ft. Lauderdale FL. You will lead design, engineering, and commissioning of utility SCADA systems, mentor teams, and drive client success.

The role requires extensive experience, strong leadership, and the ability to travel. You will work on transmission and distribution substations, renewables, and control centers,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 12+ years of post-education experience in SCADA for utility scale projects.
• Engineering license (PE) required or equivalent.
• Independent work with QA/QC.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.
• Familiarity with IEEE, IEC, ANSI, CIGRE, or NERC standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in design, engineering, and commissioning of utility, industrial, and commercial SCADA projects.
• Lead electrical infrastructure design for mid to complex projects with QA/QC.
• Prepare data transfer points lists and program data routing; develop HMI screens; test on sites.
• Design network paths for RTUs, IEDs, HMIs; verify connectivity.
• Specify fiber, microwave, power line carrier, or radio paths; travel as needed.
• Apply SCADA standards per IEEE/IEC/ANSI/CIGRE/NERC.
• Develop logic/control platforms (SEL RTAC, NovaTech Orion, Eaton SMP).
• Work with Wonderware, AcSELerator RTAC, NovaTech NCD/Inkscape.
• Develop control schemes for remote/local operation; travel to sites for testing.
• Uphold safety and company policies; support proposals and client relations.
