Job summary

BlackSky in Tukwila, WA seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support the full lifecycle of satellite systems. You will design structures, mechanisms, and assemblies using Creo, create manufacturing drawings, and maintain BOMs while collaborating with flight, prototype, and test teams.

The role involves planning and conducting functional tests, supporting production, and maturing concepts to detailed manufacturing drawings. A BS in Mechanical/Aerospace with 5+ years’ experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 5+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience using CAD to develop part and assembly models and drawings.
• Working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 tolerancing.
• US Person required.

Responsibilities

• Design spacecraft mechanical structures, mechanisms, assemblies, and components with Creo.
• Generate and maintain engineering and manufacturing documentation such as part drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials.
• Document design and analysis data in technical reports, presentations, and manufacturing systems.
• Plan, support, and/or execute functional testing of prototypes, qualification, and flight units.
• Support manufacturing and production teams by providing design intent, resolving build issues, reviewing nonconformance reports, and implementing corrective actions.
• Develop tooling, fixtures, and ground support equipment as needed to support integration and test activities.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver space vehicle designs, production plans, and test strategies that support program cost, schedule, and quality goals.
