BlackSky is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer for Space Vehicle to lead system-level definition, verification, and delivery of our spacecraft. Based in Tukwila, WA, you will work in a hybrid schedule with three on-site days and strong collaboration across mechanical, electrical, software, and test teams.

The role requires 12+ years in spacecraft or launch vehicles, a BS in engineering, and proven experience in requirements, CONOPS, architecture, and verification plans, with hands-on

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering (Electrical, Aerospace, Mechanical or CS) or related field.
• Minimum 12 years in spacecraft/launch vehicle industry.
• Strong understanding of spacecraft/subsystem behaviors and dependencies.
• Experience developing system requirements, CONOPS, architecture, and verification plans.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of internal and customer-facing Systems Engineering deliverables.
• Conduct system-level trade studies, mission analysis, and architecture development.
• Translate CONOPS into vehicle, subsystem, and component requirements.
• Communicate results to peers, Chief Engineer, program management, and customers.
• Develop verification and test plans for system and subsystems.
• Participate in major program reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PSR).
• Support supply chain activities and oversight of suppliers.
