Job summary

BlackSky seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support satellite systems lifecycle from concept to production. You will create CAD models, generate manufacturing docs, and support testing and integration across flight and ground hardware.

You will work under the Director of Mechanical Engineering in Tukwila, WA in a hybrid role. The role requires a BS in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, 5+ years of relevant experience, CAD proficiency, and ANSI Y14.5 knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience using CAD to develop part/assembly models and drawings.
• Demonstrated ability maturing designs from concepts to manufacturing drawings.
• Working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 TD.
• Must be a US Person.

Responsibilities

• Design spacecraft mechanical structures, mechanisms, assemblies and components with Creo.
• Create and maintain engineering/manufacturing drawings and BOMs.
• Document design data in reports and manufacturing systems.
• Plan, support or perform functional testing of prototypes and flight units.
• Support manufacturing by providing design intent and resolving issues.
• Develop tooling, fixtures, and ground support equipment as needed.
• Apply engineering judgment balancing performance, manufacturability, reliability and schedule.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on space vehicle design and test strategies.
