Job summary

BlackSky Holdings LLC is seeking a Senior Space Vehicle Systems Engineer to join our Tukwila, WA team on a hybrid schedule with 3 days on-site and flexible remote options. You will shepherd the definition, verification, and delivery of our spacecraft, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, software, test engineers, operators, and program managers.

You will drive system CONOPS to derive vehicle requirements, build automation tools for analysis, and develop verification plans while delivering

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Computer Science, Aerospace, Systems, or Electrical preferred)
• 5+ years in Aerospace/Defense with 2+ years in real-time hardware/software analysis
• Proficient with Python for data analysis
• Strong ability to develop component/subsystem software models
• Strong understanding of spacecraft/subsystem dependencies
• Experience producing satellite budgets and analyses (power, mass, reliability)
• Proficient with requirements management practices
• Experience creating SE artifacts: ICDs, IBDs, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams, state machines
• Ownership mindset and bias toward eliminating waste and inefficiency

Responsibilities

• Organize, lead, and support development of internal and customer-facing Systems Engineering deliverables
• Build and refine automated tools for analyzing test data at component, subsystem, vehicle, and constellation levels
• Define and decompose system CONOPS into vehicle, subsystem, and component requirements
• Build and maintain tools to generate spacecraft budgets and analyses
• Develop system, subsystem, and component verification and test plans
• Communicate technical information (analysis results, findings, trades) to peers, Chief Engineer, program management, and customers
• Seek and implement automation to streamline workflows across Engineering, Production, and Operations
• Represent Systems Engineering within IPTs to ensure needs are met and SE practices are applied
• Provide technical oversight of component/unit suppliers and support supply chain activities
• Other job-related duties as assigned
