Job summary

Baker Tilly Advisory Group, LP is seeking a State & Local Income Tax Senior Associate to join its SALT practice across the U.S. You will help provide state tax compliance and consulting for a variety of clients, from mid-market to Fortune 500, across multiple jurisdictions.

You will conduct technical research, prepare returns, and advise on nexus and filing positions while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality services.

Qualifications

• Strong time management, communication, analytical thinking, and client service skills.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in public accounting or industry with multi-state tax compliance/consulting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review state and local income and franchise tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and other entities across multiple jurisdictions.
• Assist clients with tax consulting issues including state income/franchise, sales taxes, M&A, nexus, and filing positions.
• Conduct technical research on state income tax laws and regulations, including legislation changes and case law.
• Analyze client data to identify filing obligations, potential tax exposures, and planning opportunities.
• Support clients in state tax audits, notices, and controversy matters.
• Develop technical expertise in state tax and communicate insights to clients and internal teams.
• Manage multiple client projects in a deadline-driven environment ensuring accuracy and quality.
