Job summary

Baker Tilly, a premier advisory, tax and assurance firm, seeks a Director to join the State & Local Tax (SALT) practice with a broader indirect tax focus in the Chicago area. You will guide senior clients, shape strategic SALT solutions, and advance a fast-growing practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• 10+ years of state and local tax experience.
• 5+ years of supervisory experience.
• Eligibility to work in the U.S. is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Be a trusted advisor to middle market and Fortune 500 clients on state and local tax issues.
• Lead multi-state reviews covering income, franchise, sales and use, payroll and property tax.
• Counsel clients on controversies, including tax research and ruling requests.
• Plan and execute tax projects including due diligence and voluntary disclosures.
• Develop technical memoranda and maintain client communications to enhance value.
• Support staff development and engagement profitability.
