Job summary

First Roles is seeking a Salesforce Business Analyst to support New York State government technology initiatives. The role focuses on gathering requirements, translating them into Salesforce-ready specifications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions.

The ideal candidate will have proven Salesforce BA experience, strong documentation skills, and stakeholder management abilities. This is an onsite contract role for 36 months in the NJ/NY area.

Salesforce Business Analyst

Location: New York State (NYS)

Duration: 36 Months

Employment Type: Contract

We are seeking an experienced Salesforce Business Analyst to support New York State government technology initiatives. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, project managers, developers, and QA teams to gather requirements, analyze business processes, and translate business needs into functional specifications for Salesforce solutions.

The candidate should have strong experience in business analysis, Salesforce CRM implementations, requirements documentation, and stakeholder management, preferably in a government or public-sector environment. Need someone who is local to NJ/NY area. Preference will only be given to them since this role requires someone to work onsite.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and working sessions.
• Analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities for process improvement and Salesforce automation.
• Translate business requirements into user stories, functional specifications, use cases, and acceptance criteria.
• Work with Salesforce administrators, developers, architects, and QA teams to ensure solutions align with business requirements.
• Support Salesforce CRM configuration and implementation initiatives, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, or other relevant Salesforce modules.
• Create process flows, business requirements documents (BRDs), functional requirements documents (FRDs), and workflow diagrams.
• Manage and prioritize requirements in collaboration with product owners and project stakeholders.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and sprint reviews, as applicable.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including test scenario development, defect tracking, and validation of business requirements.
• Facilitate stakeholder communication, status reporting, and change management activities.
• Ensure project documentation is complete, accurate, and aligned with organizational standards.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst supporting Salesforce implementations or enhancements.
• Strong understanding of Salesforce CRM capabilities, workflows, objects, reports, dashboards, and business processes.
• Experience gathering and documenting business and functional requirements.
• Proficiency in user stories, use cases, process mapping, and acceptance criteria.
• Experience working with technical teams, business users, and project stakeholders.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum and software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
• Experience supporting UAT, defect management, and requirements traceability.
• Excellent analytical, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Salesforce Certified Business Analyst certification is required. Candidates must hold an active Salesforce Certified Business Analyst credential.
• Need someone local to NJ/NY area

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on other public-sector IT projects.
• Salesforce Business Analyst certification or other relevant Salesforce certification.
• Experience with Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, or Salesforce platform implementations.
• Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Visio, or Microsoft Project.
• Experience with government project documentation, reporting, and compliance processes.
