Job summary

Qualifications

• Outside sales or sales leadership in paving, civil, or heavy construction.
• Proven ability to close large accounts through long sales cycles.
• Experience with municipal or government bids and/or data center procurement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of estimators and sales staff.
• Qualify leads, delegate pursuits, and prioritize opportunities.
• Build and manage quarterly and annual sales plans.
• Win large strategic accounts including GC's, city/county projects, and data centers.
• Oversee prospecting, proposals, negotiations, and handoff to operations.
• Coordinate with estimators and PMs to align pricing and delivery.
• Collaborate with marketing on CRM, pipeline visibility, and win-rate tracking.

Sales Manager – Paving & Civil (Houston, TX)

Our client, an established Houston paving and civil contractor, is hiring a Sales Manager to lead its sales and estimating team and grow into data center, municipal, and civil development work.

What you'll do

• Lead and develop a team of chief, senior, and project estimators
• Qualify leads and decide which to pursue, delegate, or pass on
• Build and run quarterly and annual sales plans
• Win large strategic accounts: general contractors, city and county work, public works, and data center developers
• Manage prospecting, proposals, negotiation, and handoff to operations
• Work with estimators and project managers so pricing and delivery hold up
• Partner with marketing on CRM, pipeline visibility, and win-rate tracking

What you bring

• Several years of outside sales or sales leadership in paving, civil, or heavy construction
• A record of closing large accounts through long sales cycles
• Experience with municipal or government bids, data center procurement, or both (strongly preferred)
• Civil development or site prep experience: clearing, grading, utilities, stabilization (a plus)
• The ability to work with estimators and field teams to turn client needs into winning bids
• Comfort negotiating with senior decision-makers and defending price and scope
• Integrity, a strong work ethic, and real care for the people around you

Location and travel

In office in the Houston metro. Occasional travel for major pursuits.
