Job summary

Hatched Recruitment Group in Houston seeks an Estimator with experience in concrete paving and underground utilities to prepare cost estimates and bid proposals for civil construction projects.

You will review plans, perform quantity takeoffs, and price material, labour, and equipment costs while coordinating with operations and project teams to develop competitive bids and identify value-engineering opportunities.

Qualifications

• Estimating experience in heavy civil construction or civil infrastructure.
• Strong experience with concrete paving estimates.
• Some experience estimating underground utilities or drainage.
• Ability to interpret civil plans and specifications.
• Strong quantity take off, pricing and cost analysis skills.
• Good organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates and bid proposals for concrete paving and civil construction projects.
• Review plans, specifications and bid documents to establish project scope.
• Complete quantity take-offs and calculate material, labour and equipment costs.
• Price concrete paving, drainage and underground utility work.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Assess construction methods, production rates and project risks.
• Identify potential cost savings and value-engineering opportunities.
• Coordinate with operations and project management during bid preparation and project handover.
• Submit accurate, competitive bids within deadlines.

An established, family-owned civil contractor with a long history of delivering infrastructure projects across the Houston area is looking to recruit an Estimator with experience in concrete paving and underground utilities.

The company works with developers, home builders and municipal clients, delivering projects including concrete street paving, bridges, underground utilities and drainage infrastructure.
