A leading manufacturer of advanced simulation and test equipment is seeking a Sales Engineer to join its Pittsburgh, PA team. This role will focus on developing and managing complex equipment proposals for simulation and test systems used across defense, aerospace, automotive, and consumer product laboratory applications.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of capital equipment sales experience and a strong technical aptitude. Industry-specific experience is not required.
The company develops specialized simulation and test equipment used for applications involving motion sensors, inertial systems, motion platforms, defense technologies, optical systems, and other highly engineered products.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet or exceed annual sales and bookings targets
- Develop relationships with new and existing customers to drive equipment, services, and turnkey solution sales
- Review customer requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to develop technical proposals, specifications, and pricing
- Develop and execute territory growth strategies aligned with business objectives
- Attend trade shows, conferences, networking events, and customer meetings to generate new business
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, partners, and internal stakeholders
- Develop pricing recommendations and commercial proposals for complex systems
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and leadership teams to support customer success
- Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, and sales records
- Travel approximately 25% to support customers, trade shows, and business development activities
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred
- 3+ years of capital equipment sales experience
- Strong technical, communication, presentation, and customer relationship skills
- Experience with rotating equipment, servo systems, or motion control is a plus
- Previous experience working with defense or government customers is a plus
- Ability to understand complex technical requirements and translate them into customer solutions
- Willingness to travel approximately 25%
