Job description

Guideline is seeking a Sales Development Representative to join our growing Sales Team. This role will report to one of our SDR Managers. Candidates can reside in the following states: AZ, CO, UT, and El Paso/Hudspeth Counties (TX).

Candidates can reside in MT or PT time zones and will be expected to workMonday through Friday 9am to 5pm Pacific Time. This may be subject to change throughout the year.

Fluency in Spanish is a strong plus, including the ability to read, write, and speak effectively with customers.

Why Guideline
Guideline was founded in 2015 by CEO Kevin Busque, when he noticed that young employees weren’t participating in his company’s 401(k) due to dated systems and high fees.

A modern, easy to use, and affordable provider didn’t exist, so Kevin and the founders built Guideline with the mission of helping everyone arrive at a secure retirement.

We’re now one of the fastest growing retirement companies (5th largest in the US), with more than 350 employees, 50,000+ businesses, and $15B+ invested on our platform. As we continue to expand, we’re looking for driven individuals to join our growing team.

Your impact on Guideline’s mission
As a Sales Development Representative (SDR), you will be our clients' first interaction with our Sales Team. You'll be responsible for educating and qualifying prospects who have different degrees of interest. If qualified, you will connect the prospects to our Account Executives (AEs).

What You’ll Do

  • Engage with inbound leads (both new and existing), qualify prospects, and book calls and product demos with AEs through personalized outreach via calls and emails
  • Ensure the prospect shows up to the meeting with AE; follow-up as needed
  • Maintain SLAs for actioning and following up on leads (timeliness and consistency)
  • Manage your own pipeline of leads, taking responsibility for driving activity and results
  • Use Salesforce to monitor, track, and update lead activity, status, and information
  • Effectively and efficiently leverage our sales tech stack - including Salesforce, Outreach, Gong, Talkdesk, Calendly, and Alysio

What you’ll gain
Our SDR program is designed to be a launchpad for your sales career. At Guideline, SDRs are typically promoted to AE roles within 12-18 months of consistent performance. Most of our Account Executives (AEs) started as a Guideline SDR.

In this role, you’ll benefit from:

  • Weekly 1on1 coaching with your manager for continuous feedback and skill-building
  • Weekly team meetings to collaborate, share strategies, and learn from peers
  • A collaborative team environment that values feedback, transparency, and growth
  • Quarterly reviews focused on your professional development, performance, and goals
  • A structured promotion path to Account Executive, typically within 12-18 months
  • Quarterly Revenue All-Hands to hear directly from leaders and celebrate successes

Your first 6 months:

  • Month 1: Dive into onboarding, get to know the team, and build your knowledge of our product, market, and sales process
  • Months 2-4: Begin your responsibilities as an SDR, including reaching out to prospects via calls and emails, responding to inbound leads, and generating new opportunities
  • Months 4-6: Develop a solid understanding of our industry, product, and customers; be comfortable overcoming common objections; consistently meet or exceed daily goals

Who’s a good fit

  • You have at least 12 months of professional experience (including internships); prior sales or business development experience is a plus
  • You’re driven – eager to meet and exceed targets, hungry for growth, self-motivated, looking to grow your sales career
  • You’re curious – always looking for ways to become more efficient and effective, excited to continue learning and gaining a deeper understanding of our product and industry
  • You’re coachable – open and receptive to feedback, embrace new tools and processes, growth-oriented, adapt quickly to changes
  • You’re collaborative – with a team first mentality, proactively sharing your knowledge and insights, willing to help and coach peers
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • You’re highly organized, with a keen attention to detail

Who’s not a fit

  • You’re not looking to grow into an Account Executive role or pursue a career in sales
  • You’re uncomfortable making or receiving a lot of phone calls on a daily basis
  • You have difficulty handling rejection or managing the ups and downs that come with a fast-paced sales role
  • You struggle with change or prefer static environments
  • You live outside of the following states: AZ, CO, UT, and El Paso/Hudspeth Counties (TX)

Offer Package
This role offers a base salary of $50,000 with On-Target Earnings (OTE) of $77,000, which includes performance-based commission and has further upward potential with accelerators. Additionally, there is a structured promotion path within SDR levels based on consistent strong performance – as soon as within the first 6 months.

At Guideline, base salary is just one component of the overall Total Rewards package offered to employees. All employees are offered comprehensive benefits and perks to help support you and your family.
