Job summary

Southland Industries seeks a Safety Coordinator to assist the Safety Manager in planning, coordinating, and implementing safety programs that align with corporate standards and regulations. This role promotes an incident-free work environment by ensuring OSHA compliance and effective safety training.

The coordinator will inspect sites, document findings, and drive corrective actions, while maintaining required safety documents and participating in investigations when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences or related discipline preferred.
• 2-4 years’ experience in related field.
• CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
• OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr required; OSHA 40hr training preferred.
• OSHA 500, CHST or ASP certifications preferred.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA CFR 1910 and 1926 standards or state construction safety regulations.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong customer-service and organizational skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and OSHA information access online.
• Good knowledge of safety operating processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist Safety Manager in planning and implementing safety, health, and environmental programs.
• Inspect job sites to ensure OSHA compliance.
• Document safety inspections and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate and promote safety training and orientations.
• Maintain accident reports, inspection reports, and training logs.
• Support incident investigations and regulatory reporting as required.
• Provide emergency response as needed and participate in investigations.
• Communicate safety requirements and promote a safe work environment.
