Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Safety Manager in Westmont, IL, to lead company-wide safety programs from design through construction. This on-site, permanent role requires a robust safety background in commercial construction and a proven ability to implement proactive risk controls on project sites.

You will develop site-specific safety plans, train staff, conduct inspections, and work with leadership to ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining project momentum.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or a related technical field preferred.
• 5+ years of construction safety experience, preferably within a commercial construction environment.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification required.
• CHST, CSP, or other relevant safety certification preferred.
• Experience developing and implementing site-specific safety plans and safety programs.
• Proficiency with safety management software and construction technology platforms such as Procore.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to influence safety culture.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve company-wide construction safety programs and initiatives.
• Collaborate with project teams to develop site-specific safety plans, emergency procedures, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Lead safety culture and drive proactive risk prevention and accountability.
• Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections, audits, and assessments for hazards and non-compliance.
• Monitor safety metrics and KPIs; provide recommendations to senior leadership.
• Stay current on OSHA regulations, industry standards, and best practices impacting construction safety.
• Lead safety orientations and ongoing training (fall protection, scaffolding, confined spaces, etc).
• Lead investigations of accidents and near-misses with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Maintain OSHA documentation including OSHA 300 logs.
• Partner with project managers, superintendents, field personnel, subcontractors, and leadership to enforce safety requirements.
• Serve as primary contact for insurance carriers, regulatory agencies, OSHA representatives, and others on safety matters.
• Identify opportunities to improve safety processes without disrupting schedules.
• Utilize safety management software to document inspections, track incidents, monitor compliance, and report performance.
