Job summary

Southland Industries offers an immersive Internship and New College Graduate program designed to launch careers in Occupational Health & Safety within the Design/Build HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection industry. You’ll assist the Safety Manager in enforcing safety procedures across project sites and facilities, gaining exposure to OSHA standards and safety management.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree aligned with Southland’s needs in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Knowledge of construction safety practices and learning loss management.
• Experience working with field employees/customers in a professional manner.
• Understanding and communication of OSHA regulations at state/federal/local levels.
• Strong work ethic, initiative, and drive to complete tasks.
• Good communication and public speaking abilities.
• Resourcefulness, resilience and problem-solving in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all project-site tasks are performed safely per policy and OSHA.
• Help implement the Corporate Safety Award Program.
• Distribute certification cards for industrial training and track training records.
• Report and manage all company vehicle claims.
• Assist in reporting workers’ compensation claims.
• Update MSDS manual and safety materials.
• Assemble safety manuals for distribution.
• Assist with safety tailgate meetings and record forms.
