Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Safety Engineer II to implement Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety program across project sites in the United States. You will work with project teams, subcontractors and visitors to maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with OSHA standards.

This role requires travel up to 100%, strong leadership, and effective communication. A safety degree or certs combined with hands-on construction experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or related field.
• HS diploma with STS/CHST, OSHA 30 and 7+ years construction safety leadership.
• Minimum of one year of related experience.
• Detail-oriented with ability to organize and manage multiple tasks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety software.
• Strong communication, leadership, and public speaking skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer safety programs at each worksite for team members.
• Assist project management in developing site-specific safety programs and activities.
• Attend, coordinate, and conduct safety orientation and training at the project level.
• Document and track safety violations and unsafe conditions.
• Conduct work area safety audits and incident analyses.
• Coordinate OSHA reporting and posting requirements.

Education
