Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer I to implement its Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project sites and ensure a safe environment for crew, subcontractors, and visitors on construction sites.

You will lead safety programs, conduct audits, manage OSHA reporting, and partner with client safety personnel, unions, and risk engineers. A degree in safety or equivalent, construction safety experience, and travel up to 100% are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or equivalent.
• High school diploma with CHST, OSHA 500, and 10+ years construction safety leadership.
• Minimum of four years of construction safety experience.
• Current valid driver’s license.
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety software.
• Willingness to travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer safety programs at worksites, including safety activities and training.
• Document and track safety violations, audits, and loss control data.
• Lead OSHA reporting, monitor subcontractor activities, and review safety submittals.
• Record, monitor, and analyze safety, injury, and hazard statistics.
• Provide safety information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, and maintain safety standards knowledge.
• Attend safety meetings and assist with major incident analysis.
• Collaborate with client safety personnel, union reps, and risk engineers.
• Ensure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and build relationships across the organization.
