Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate heavy machinery at recycling centers, landfills or transfer stations. The role includes performing pre- and post-operation inspections, loading and spreading materials, and ensuring equipment is maintained and ready for use.

The position requires at least two years of heavy equipment experience and one year at OSHA-regulated sites, with a strong emphasis on safety, professionalism and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Two years of heavy equipment operation experience.
• One year of experience at sites regulated by OSHA.
• Good customer services skills; professional and courteous conduct toward customers and co-workers.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment to ensure safety and visibility.
• Safely operate equipment such as forklift, excavator, bulldozer, and front-end loader following safety standards.
• Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials.
• Keep equipment clean and ready; clean tracks or wheels as needed.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and report repairs as needed.
• Follow all required safety policies and keep the shop clean and organized after each shift.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
