Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate heavy machinery at recycling centers, landfills, or transfer stations. Responsibilities include inspections, material screening, and keeping equipment ready for efficient work cycles.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in heavy equipment and at least 1 year at OSHA-regulated sites, with strong safety focus and reliability. This role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and consistent maintenance of equipment and work areas.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
• Good time management and safety-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections to ensure safety and equipment readiness.
• Monitor waste for unacceptable materials.
• Monitor equipment condition to minimize downtime and clean tracks/wheels as needed.
• Perform and document minor service; refer major issues to Maintenance Shop.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and report repairs to supervisor.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Keep shop clean, serviced, and stored after each shift.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
