Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely run heavy machinery at a recycling center, landfill or transfer station. You’ll perform pre/post inspections, monitor waste streams and ensure equipment readiness while maintaining safety standards.

You will also conduct basic maintenance, document reports, and help keep the site clean and compliant with company policies. A strong emphasis on reliability, teamwork and customer service is required.

Qualifications

• Two years’ prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of OSHA-regulated site experience.
• Strong customer service and professional conduct.
• Good time management to meet safety and schedule goals.
• Ability to follow safety policies and company rules.
• Pride in work and goal-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment in accordance with Company policy.
• Safely and efficiently operate equipment such as forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste in materials.
• Perform and document minor service on equipment; refer complex issues to Maintenance Shop.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other required reports; notify supervisor of repairs.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Keep shop clean, serviced and stored after each shift.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
