Job summary

Republic Services, a leading environmental services company, is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate at a recycling center, landfill or transfer station. The role involves transferring, spreading, loading and compacting waste or soil using a range of heavy machinery.

Ideal candidates will have prior heavy equipment experience, a commitment to safety, and the ability to perform routine inspections and basic maintenance while following company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Good time management skills to ensure responsibilities are completed safely.
• Good follow through ability; adherence to schedules and challenges as they arise.
• Ability to adhere to Company policies and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of equipment per Company policy.
• Safely operate equipment including forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader and other equipment.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste in materials.
• Conduct minor equipment service and report repairs as needed.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other reports; notify supervisor of repairs.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure shop is clean, serviced and stored after each shift.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
