CVS Health is seeking a Backend Capability Product Specialist to own the backend platform, APIs, and third‑party integration layer of our SaaS product suite. You will lead the API strategy, governance, and marketplace ecosystem development, aligning with engineering and business strategy to deliver scalable, interoperable systems for internal and partner use.

The role requires strong product management experience, deep API expertise, and comfort navigating healthcare interoperability standards.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of product management experience.
• 4+ years focused on backend systems, APIs, or platform products.
• Proven track record delivering SaaS platform features at scale.
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design, webhooks, async messaging, and modern integration patterns.
• Hands-on experience with API management platforms (e.g., Apigee, AWS API Gateway, Kong, MuleSoft).
• Strong ability to build investment cases grounded in ROI modeling, market sizing, and competitive differentiation.

Responsibilities

• Own the product roadmap for backend systems, APIs, and data platform capabilities.
• Define API design standards, versioning strategies, and developer experience (DX) principles.
• Drive the vision for a scalable, event-driven microservices architecture with engineering leads.
• Establish and govern API governance frameworks including authentication, rate limiting, and SLA commitments.
• Lead strategy and execution for third‑party integrations and marketplace ecosystem development.
• Manage the integration roadmap from vendor evaluation through production go‑live and lifecycle management.
• Monitor market trends and regulatory shifts to inform the backend roadmap.
• Build ROI-based business cases for platform investments with revenue and efficiency impact.
