Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a hands-on Backend Capability Product Specialist to own the backend platform, API ecosystem, and third‑party integration layer of our SaaS product suite. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, business strategy, and market intelligence—driving scalable, interoperable systems powering internal capabilities and external partner integrations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in product management for software
• 4+ years focused on backend systems, APIs, or platform products
• Proven track record delivering SaaS platform features at scale
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design and modern integration patterns
• Hands‑on experience with API management platforms (Apigee, AWS API Gateway, Kong, MuleSoft)
• Strong ROI modeling and market sizing abilities
• Experience leading API/platform product strategy
• Comfortable reviewing API specs (OpenAPI/Swagger) and architectural discussions

Responsibilities

• Own the product roadmap for backend systems, APIs, and data platform capabilities
• Define API design standards, versioning, and developer experience
• Drive scalable, event-driven microservices architecture with engineering
• Govern API governance including authentication, rate limiting, and SLAs
• Lead third‑party integrations, partner APIs, and marketplace ecosystem development
• Evaluate interoperability standards (HL7 FHIR, SMART on FHIR, TEFCA) and drive adoption
• Build ROI-based business cases for platform investments and communicate with sales, CS, and pre‑sales teams
• Serve as API product evangelist and define platform KPIs (adoption, uptime, latency)
