Job summary

CVS Health seeks a Backend Capability Product Specialist to own the backend platform, API ecosystem, and third-party integrations for our SaaS suite. You will bridge engineering, product strategy, and market intelligence to deliver scalable, interoperable systems powering internal capabilities and partner integrations.

You will drive API design standards, governance, and a roadmap for APIs/data platforms while coordinating with engineering squads to achieve measurable platform KPIs and ROI.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in product management
• 4+ years in backend/API/platform products
• Experience delivering SaaS platform features at scale
• Understanding of RESTful API design and modern integration patterns
• Hands-on experience with API management platforms
• Ability to build ROI-based business cases
• Experience leading API/platform product strategy

Responsibilities

• Own roadmap for backend systems, APIs, and data platform capabilities
• Define API design standards, versioning, and DX principles
• Drive a scalable, event-driven microservices architecture with engineering leads
• Govern API frameworks including authentication, rate limiting, and SLA commitments
• Lead third‑party integrations, partner APIs, and marketplace ecosystem development
• Collaborate with architects on interoperability standards (HL7 FHIR, SMART on FHIR, TEFCA)
• Manage integration roadmap from vendor evaluation to production go-live
• Define and track platform KPIs: API adoption, uptime, latency, and developer satisfaction
