Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a technically fluent Backend Capability Product Specialist to own the backend platform, API ecosystem, and third‑party integration layer of our SaaS product suite. The role sits at the intersection of engineering, business strategy, and market intelligence to build a scalable, interoperable backend that differentiates our platform.

The ideal candidate combines SaaS platform expertise with a data‑driven prioritization approach, with experience in healthcare tech and EHR/EMR

Qualifications

At least 7 years of product management experience.
4+ years focused on backend systems, APIs, or platform products.
Proven track record delivering SaaS platform features at scale.
Deep understanding of RESTful API design, webhooks and async messaging.
Hands-on experience with API management platforms (Apigee, AWS API Gateway, Kong, MuleSoft).
Strong ability to build investment cases with ROI modeling and market sizing.
Experience leading API or platform product strategy.

Responsibilities

Own the roadmap for backend systems, APIs, and data platform capabilities.
Define API design standards, versioning, and developer experience principles.
Drive scalable, event-driven microservices architecture with engineering leads.
Govern API governance including authentication, rate limiting, and SLAs.
Lead strategy and execution for third‑party integrations and marketplace development.
Monitor market trends and translate them into backend roadmap enhancements.
Serve as the product owner embedded with backend engineering squads and define acceptance criteria.
