Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner to provide direct patient care in all aspects of respiratory therapy as ordered by physicians. The role involves consulting with physicians on therapy effectiveness and acting as an advanced resource for clinicians.

Qualifications include graduation from a CoArc approved Respiratory Care program, NBRC RRT credential, and an active RCP license. ACLS is preferred; ER staff may require PALS.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of CoArc approved Respiratory Care program.
• Licensure: Meets state licensure requirements and has a current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
• Experience: None.
• Certifications: Hold the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential awarded by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). For co-workers who work in the Emergency Room PALS is required.
• Other: Physical demands: push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs; pinch up to 10 lbs; kneel, crouch, crawl. Equipment: All appropriate respiratory care devices.
• Preferred Education: ACLS
• Preferred Experience: Prefer critical care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care in all aspects of respiratory care, according to physician's orders.
• Consults physicians on effectiveness of therapy.
• Acts as an advanced resource person for physicians and nursing on respiratory care. Performs duties as assigned.
