Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a Route Supervisor to oversee a team of drivers, ensure safe service delivery, and support management with training and performance evaluations. The role emphasizes safety, customer service, and productivity in a fast-paced environment.

You will supervise daily activities, coach staff, and enforce DOT/OSHA standards while coordinating route assignments and handling incidents. CDL and legal work eligibility required.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead and develop a team.
• Must be able to work independently, make decisions, and resolve problems.
• Must have knowledge of DOT/OSHA regulations.
• Must have at least a valid Class B CDL.
• Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire.
• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• Must be able to read and speak the English language.
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily activities and performance of route drivers
• Train, coach, and direct employees to improve their overall performance
• Monitor and enforce quality and safety standards and ensure all compliance goals are met or exceeded
• Run routes as necessary (absences, vacations, vehicle breakdowns)
• Monitor and track employee attendance and all other required documentation relating to performance management
• Perform and monitor driver observations and vehicle inspections
• Plan, distribute, monitor, and follow-up on daily route assignments to ensure customers are serviced per company standards and agreements
• Conduct investigations for accidents, injuries, and property damage claims
• Fill in during the absence of other supervisors/office employees or drivers
• Perform other duties as assigned by management
