Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling seeks a Route Supervisor to oversee a team of drivers and ensure safe, reliable service to customers. You will be responsible for hiring, coaching, performance evaluation, and daily route planning with a strong emphasis on safety and compliance.

The role requires a valid Class B CDL, a DOT Medical Card, map-reading ability, and effective communication. Nights/weekends are required; you’ll manage 6–20 staff across multiple routes.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Class B CDL.
• Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire.
• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• 2+ years of truck driving experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily activities and performance of route drivers.
• Train, coach, and direct employees to improve their overall performance.
• Monitor and enforce quality and safety standards and ensure all compliance goals are met or exceeded.
• Run routes as necessary (absences, vacations, vehicle breakdowns).
• Monitor and track employee attendance and all other required documentation relating to performance management.
• Perform and monitor driver observations and vehicle inspections.
• Plan, distribute, monitor, and follow-up on daily route assignments to ensure customers are serviced per company standards and agreements.
• Conduct investigations for accidents, injuries, and property damage claims.
• Fill in during the absence of other supervisors/office employees or drivers.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
