Job summary

Qualifications

• Requires a High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3-5 years experience in the transportation, management, logistics or waste industry; or Associate's Degree or minimum of 2 years experience in transportation, logistics, or solid waste operations in which coaching, routing assessments and supervising employees are requirements of the role.
• Knowledge and prior application of Smith System and/or Decision Driving principles and techniques.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft applications.

Responsibilities

• Supervise drivers and daily operations; greet drivers, ensure pre/post trip inspections and communicate service points and safety issues.
• Establish and maintain a clean, safe work environment; ensure compliance with company policies.
• Share Decision Driving techniques and reinforce safe work practices; assist with weekly safety meetings.
• Route all new service starts, schedule deliveries, review productivity reports, and optimize routes to minimize labor costs.
• Address customer issues, complaints, and inquiries; interact with city, state and municipalities to ensure timely service.
• Conduct route observations; ensure safety procedures, vehicle and equipment condition; identify training needs and review with drivers.
• Monitor driver time, attendance, pre-trip inspections, and DOT hours of service; address maintenance issues with shop.
• Complete accident and injury reports; respond to investigations and claims; train new employees; conduct evaluations.
