Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a Route Manager in Columbus, OH to lead a team of 11-20 drivers and supervisors. The role focuses on safety, productivity, and exceptional customer service while ensuring regulatory compliance and efficient daily routing.

You will hire, train, coach, and evaluate drivers, dispatch daily assignments, and monitor performance to meet company standards and budgets.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversee personnel needs to maintain trained workforce for collections.
• Manage daily activities of route supervisors and drivers.
• Train and direct employees to improve performance.
• Dispatch daily assignments as needed.
• Monitor and enforce safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Ensure daily routes are completed and productivity goals met.
• Maintain route sheets and onboard new customers.
• Conduct performance evaluations and document issues.
• Maintain compliance and personnel records.
• Monitor driver observations and vehicle inspections for safety.
• Plan, monitor, and adjust daily route assignments to meet service levels.
• Approve driver time/attendance, minimize overtime, comply with DOT limits.
• Monitor productivity, service, and safety targets per route/driver.
• Ensure drivers meet regulatory requirements (DOT, drug tests).
• Investigate accidents and incidents; participate in budget reviews.
• Manage the line of business budget.
• Foster a positive work environment and safety culture.
• Perform duties safely per regulations and company policy.
• May cover for others when needed.
