Job summary

NANA Management Services is seeking a Security Officer for the Maniilaq Village Health Clinics and surrounding areas in Alaska. This role operates on a 1 week on/1 week off rotation and may require on-call duties outside normal hours.

Training in Kotzebue is provided, with lodging and transportation arranged for new hires. The position emphasizes safety, vigilance, and rapid response to emergencies, with responsibilities including access control, incident reporting, and coordination with clinic

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to pass Alaska background check and obtain Alaska Guard License fee of $97 before starting.
• Must work well in a team with staff, customers and clients.
• Ability to make quick, informed decisions with minimal supervision.
• Hours may be long; must be on feet for 8–12 hours per shift.
• English reading/writing/speaking required per contract.
• Safety-oriented and compliant with all safety guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor assigned areas, facilities or grounds by roving or stationary observation.
• Verbally de-escalate situations to protect staff, customers and clients.
• Inspect doors, windows and areas to ensure security and safety.
• Report property damage and unusual occurrences per company policies.
• Assist in event setup and clinic readiness, including moving furniture and displays.
• Issue and record ID badges as required and notify on-site staff of visitors.
• Respond to emergencies or disasters to preserve life and property (fire safety, active shooter protocols).
• May be on-call and work outside regular hours as scheduled.
