Job summary

Blue Origin in Huntsville is seeking a Ground System Fluid/Mechanical Engineer II to design fluid and structural systems for test facilities, coordinate with suppliers, and drive test infrastructure from concept through commissioning.

You will develop P&IDs, models, and drawings, conduct analyses, and support hazard assessments and design reviews under senior guidance. This role emphasizes safety, reliability, and hands-on testing.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in fluid systems, mechanical systems, or test operations.
• Foundational knowledge of fluid mechanics, structural analysis, and system integration.
• Knowledge of fluid system components for cryogenic, propellant, and high-pressure gas applications.
• Experience with piping systems installation, fabrication methods, and welding.
• Familiarity with ASME B31.3 and BPVC standards.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and P&IDs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support design and development of fluid and mechanical systems for ground test facilities across the system lifecycle.
• Develop and release engineering deliverables including P&IDs, models, drawings, eBOMs, and analyses.
• Apply fluid mechanics and structural analysis to design high-pressure gas and cryogenic systems.
• Design mechanical test fixtures and structural supports.
• Support hazard assessments such as PHA and HAZOPs.
• Participate in design reviews and PAR readiness activities; coordinate with suppliers.
